Customer Comes First .. Really ?

"ROTTEN" customer was on the Star newspaper front page the other day
Nowadays they are a lot of irresponsible customers that like to poke on the fruits, open the box and check the food whether is good or not, change the price tag & etc etc...

Yesterday morning I was listening to 988 radio channel..and there is a discussion on this matter...
If we want to test it we have to purchase the product first before testing/open the packaging...
We can do the testing but provided the testing was done by the sales personnel (third party)...
Sounds reasonable...

In my opinion it is OK to have a minor check on the products before we purchase them...
(eg. check on the eggs whether it got crack or not, fruits whether it is fresh, smell the body shampoo whether the fragrance is nice or not & etc.......)

Some of the manufacturer say that the product is already certify ISO standard and quality is already approve.
Why we(consumer) still need to check the products?
Consumer should be satisfied and ensure the safety & quality of the product.
hmm I guess the manufacturer has a point...

But this happen to me on last Sunday.
I purchased 2 cartons of Dutch Lady Milk at Tesco, Paridigm Malland
The milk turn sour......
The expiry date is next year 2013 and it is already gone bad...
Furthermore it was having a promotion RM13.90 for 2 cartons (1 carton = 6 pcs)
Normal price is RM16.00 for 2 cartons
Is it another way on selling those bad products to customer?

Well I am agree that they could have a promotion price to reduce the stock when it is near expiring date.
But a promotion price to sell those ROTTEN Products? Damn.....

I was very upset on this matter... as the rotten food could cause food poisoning....
My wife felt some stomach discomfort after drinking the first 2 slips...
Besides that Dutch Lady is a very well reputable brand and how could this rotten food be leaked out from their quality inspection?

Now I have to drive all the way back to the Mall, lodge a complaint, then get my refund back....
Furthermore I need to pay for the carpark fees & sacrifice my time to go there...
Who shall pay that? It is me the "consumer"...
So as a consumer we need to be very cautions and check the things first before we purchase it......
Besides that if you buy something please make sure you take those products that were further behind.
Coz those front products are those that were going to expire soon....

  1. I listened to that program too.. and was really irked on the customer who picked the grapes for the son to eat.. what kind of 'education' and 'example' she is trying to tell the son ah?

next, if you want to save some time and $$, try calling Dutch Lady for the replacement. They usually entertain your call if it's genuine, and they deliver to your home instead of going back to the mall.. hehe..

  2. You must complain to Dutch Lady, threaten to sue... Sure they will try to appease you to cover up the whole thing.

  3. well, that can happen. My customers sometimes came back with that 'rotten' items. And we allowed them to exchange it as we can return it to the supplier. You should just return it. Don't throw!

    1. haha, first of all, don't throw away your receipt!! i think this is rare case that the milk is rotten.. as i believe such a reputable company they would have high standard of QC.. maybe you are just one of the 0.004% unlucky customer.. :D

  4. Anyway, I think it is very uncivilized to poke at fruit or veggie, unwrap packing to peep at products inside boxes. I hate this type of rotten customers.

  5. aiyerr....so lauya! Besides getting refund from Tesco..I think you should write a complain letter to Dutch Lady.

  6. ahhh, that is very tough to pay for parking fee to return those rotten items.

  7. Oh sorry to hear about this.

That's why sometimes I'll think twice before purchasing those promotion/discount items... Sometimes it's their business tactics...

  8. It is of course not good to open items and make it unsaleable... but truthfully, why people do it? Because we have no faith in the QC done.

Just last Sunday, I went to buy some kurma at a hypermart and saw bugs flying happily in a box of rather expensive kurma. No quality check done by staff at all?

How many of you buy groceries in good faith that it fresh only to arrive home and see that they are rotten inside? I have. :(

    1. Wah! Kurma with Fly Eggs added will be no fun! Nanti eggs hatched inside tummy, mampus lah!

    2. hahaha, maybe those are actually the secret ingredients that make the kurma more delicious?? and with flies around, looks like the kurma is so nice even flies want to taste~~ :D

    3. It's a huge turn off, looking at the flies happily buzzing the food. My mother used to warn us, that those flies will stop at the poo poo station before making another stop on our food :s

  9. We can't help it if we bought some spoilt products home, despite the expiry dates show the other way. We still can return them and get replaced / refund.

    1. If we buy from big hypermarkets, they will change with no questions asked policy!

In overseas, the Asian students used to buy TV and Hi-Fi sets to use for whole 3 months Summer Holidays! Just before the 3 months, they will return everything and get full refunds!! So pandai!

    2. TM ... hahaha.. my housemates did that..
furthermore they buy those branded shirt and don't take off the label..
so once after finish party they return back to the store...
Of course I didn't do that...

      Delete
    3. yeah, the mentality is different lah.. most of the westerners do not do that that's why they have the return policy.. this is not applicable to the "smart" asian countries lor, hehehe~~ :p

    4. The remarks about "smart" Asian, we are soooo cheapskate! LOL!

This is becuase they are afraid that the person might not like it so they could go and refund it.. and get something that they like...

  10. I cannot accept if people are poking the sealed product to see the content or try out the fruits without the sales personnel. So uncivilized!

  11. Aiyoyo! I also kena same thing! I always buy Good Day milk as they are the best!! Mana tahu, I drank half a glass in one gulp and blueeekkkkkkkkkk! I spat out the sourish taste! KNN! I knew it was busuk liao. I cursed the cow and the manufacturer!! How to complain?

    ReplyDelete
  12. In the end my tummy started to turn and croak croak! I spat out 1/4 but drank 1/4 from the cup! Too bad for me. I had phobia for Good day for a few months. Human memory is short and I am back to this brand.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I learnt something from this incident. Good Day milk cannot be stored without refrigeration like Dutch Lady as it contains little or no preservatives! So my mistake was I bought from a nearby Grocery Mart that has pariah fridge that was not cold enough. So the milk fermented too fast! Now I will see their refrigeration racks carefully and did out the box that is deep inside & coldest! So far so good!

  14. I don't poke the fruits but I press them!!! Kekekekeke

    ReplyDelete
  15. When I buy Honeydew or papaya, I have to press a bit lah so that I will know whether it is riped or not! Seeing is deceiving! Pressing is convincing!!

    Muahahahahahaha!

    1. TM you like to press PAPAYA?
so you like it soft, hard or firm? kakakakaka
as for honey dew I just smell it.. some of it really have strong nice smell

    2. TM, pressing at papaya will leave a finger print there. Next person see won't want to buy that papaya that you pressed before. You miang la!

      Delete
    3. no lah, that's so not ethical to press on the fruit.. if not ripe enough then can keep longer at home lah, correct?? ooopsss, after reading SP and Yvonne's comment, i know now Anay TM meant another thing with "pressing papaya"~~ :D

    4. TM is so obscene... got this fetish on papaya, kakakaka!

  17. haiyoh, so unlucky lah SP.. but i think it's just rare case for your incident lah, i believe the automated QC also takes sample and there might be like less than 0.004% of defects..

    1. even the world famous 6-sigma quality control also goes for 99.996% only.. but ok lah, at least you got it refunded.. just unlucky you wasted your time and parking fees and petrol lor..

    2. there was once i bought a packet of HL Milk from 7-eleven in KL Sentral, brought back to office, poured a cup and drank it, only to realised it's rotten and gone bitter and sour!! gosh!! such a bad experience.. i think their fridge is not cold enough to store the milk~~

    3. but i lazy to go back and argue lah, and i don't have the receipt also.. this lesson tells us that we must always keep the receipt with us!! just in case any defective products we found, we can ask for refund..

    4. I also had that experience once with HL milk from a convenience shop. My guess was the same as yours, SK. Luckily no cirit birit~

  18. actually come to dairy products, i am very concern about the quality.. i always check the expiry date and make sure it's long enough.. you know lah, once dairy products perished, they become very toxic..

    1. hope your fui fui has recovered from her stomachache now.. dairy products can be nutritious, but when they perished they can really make you kneel on your knees!!

    2. i think you can consider posting this blog to Dutch Lady's facebook, haha!! make them aware of this, so that they will tighten their QC process.. merely asking Tesco to refund won't help, because they are just reseller and not the manufacturer..

  25. Your case happened exactly here in KK school where a group of students were admitted to hospital for drinking "rotten" milks too. Surprisingly, the milk hasn't expired too but my mom think probably because the room temperature caused the milk to taste sour and gone bad. So I guess that must be reason the Dutch Lady milk to taste sour.

  26. aiyo...sorry to hear that. i hope your missus is alright now. stock up a few cans of Coca - Cola in your fridge. anytime you eat something bad, drink one can of Coke immediately. This was taught by a visiting wastewater engineer Professor from UK :P it works. once i ate a tambun pia already with fungus, i accidentally pop in and only realize it was with fungus so i drank Coke. didn't get stomach ache. but the Coke thingy doesn't work if you don't drink immediately.

  27. I know for a fact that some of my local grocery stores don't dispose of their produce when their refrigeration goes out. The number of times I've had to take milk and yoghurt back is embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. yikes.. that's very alarming indeed... we had some cases of food poisoning here recently and that's because of the same nearly expired dairy products which have been sold to mostly students....

    ReplyDelete
  29. it is a marketing strategy~ if they replace a new barcode of the expire date then how leh? haha

  30. I always check for expiry dates especially dairy products. I am afraid of food poisoning. I have also bought food that was not expired and gone bad and I always return it and get a refund.
