The actual day is on tomorrow..
As tomorrow I will travel up North for my Christmas Holiday..
So my MIL decided to have it earlier.. did some prayers... and so on..
Yesterday we had a simple dinner (as I said that I will visit my MIL more often... lol)
and all family members gather together...
I was very surprise that this time my MIL make a special tong yuen dessert...
My MIL use a pumpkin soup as the base..
Taste very nice..
She called it Golden Tong Yuen..
after you eat you will be HUATTTTTTT ahhh..
Happy Dong Zhi & Merry Christmas to all of you...
So coincidentally Dong Zhi also fall 21/Dec/2012 ...
Hope to see you again after Christmas.......
Here I also want to congratulate Jane (my niece) who score excellent result in her PMR..
Well done...
Well done...
Happy Dong Zhi to you and family!

ReplyDeleteHappy Dongzhi to you and happy holiday to you too.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin tong yuen too.
Me too celebrated pre-dong zhi yesterday together with brothers. Made steamboat at home...and also tong yuen as dessert!
ReplyDeleteWow...that golden tong yuen must be yummy! After HUAT edi don't lupa people okay? :-p
CONGRATS to your niece! ;-)
Golden tong yuen? I thought SP regards this color as yellow, as in the hamsap color?
DeleteAfter eat yellow tong yuen SP will HUAT and get horny! LOL~~
Hahahaha! And become yellow all over? Yellow minded, Yellow Telco service, Yellow face, Yellow baju....etc etc.... LOL!
Deletehappy Dong Zhi :)
ReplyDelete(sigh my family didn't tang yuen for many years)
hey..good idea..to use pumpkin as the base soup! Never thought of that.. tomorrow my mom will do the tong yeun too.. this year we bought two packets from Jaya Jusco, those with fillings inside.. :)
ReplyDeletehaiyoh, you can always put this post up tomorrow on the winter solstice itself mah.. there is one feature in blogger called SCHEDULED POST you don't know meh?? haha~~ :p
ReplyDeleteoh nice, i actually quite like to eat the "tang yuan", love the chewy chewy glutinous balls in the soup with some hints of ginger.. but cannot eat too much also lah, this year i gotta eat 36 balls, following my age mah, haha!!
Deletepumpkin flavor!! hmm, sounds healthy and delicious too!! maybe you can tabao a bit to be eaten during your flight, haha!! or perhaps you could also find that in BKK?? :)
DeleteI know but tomorrow is 21/Dec.
Deleteso if it is true then at least you can read this post.. kakakaka
SK you are 36 years old meh?
DeleteSK is younger than me.... so should be 36 and below. ;p
Deletethe chinese says you are one year older on winter solstice already.. :p
DeleteStrange enough Bananaz also 36 coz never eaten any 'tang yuan' thereafter. Old folks say Dongzhi Festival is more 'bigger' than CNY and once you have eaten the tang yuan after Dongzhi Festival you add one year. So Bananaz maintain 36 years old every year.
DeleteHappy Dong Zhi!
ReplyDeleteYou had tong yuen earlier, but you prayed earlier too? I thought must pray on the dedicated day one? Can simply change the date ka?
Next time on every 1st and 15th, you wanna grr grrrr grrrr, change to be vegan on 2nd or 16th :p
DeleteCannot like that, right?
ur grr grr grr urges is very strong huh...
Deletenot for me .. I will tahan till 2nd & 16th.. kakakakaka
then it will be more keng chow...
The tang yuen looks good! have a good holiday!
ReplyDeletepumpkin soup is sucha smart idea!

ReplyDeleteI hear it's the biggest holiday before CNY. That one I definitely will always go back.
Have a good holiday bro! :)
